You need to prepare the proof of Identity:
Social Security Card
Birth Certificate, etc.
Registration Identification Number (RIN) found on the letter sent to you by DMV Offices (for renewal purposes only)
Complete the Driver's License Application form by downloading the form from this website or you can apply online (only applies to selected states)
Some states will require you to have a DMV Appointment for your Road, Eye and Driving Test.

You will be issued a temporary license that will allow you to drive for a certain period of time.
DMV offices will charge you for additional fees for renewal and shipping of your Driver's License to your registered mailing address. Normally, it takes 2 weeks for you to receive your driver's license ID.
